Fillets and Chamfers In assemblies, you can create fillets and chamfers, which are useful for weld preparation. As with other assembly features, you can propagate these features to the parts they affect. 2. Weld Bead Display Weld beads are displayed as graphical representations in models. The weld beads are lightweight and do not affect performance. 3. Defeature for Assemblies With the Defeature tool, you can remove details from a part or assembly and save the results to a new file in which the details are replaced by dumb solids (that is, solids without feature definition or history). You can then share the new file without revealing all the design details of the model. Drawings and Detailing 1. Alignment Options for Dimension Palette Alignment tools are available on the dimension palette when you select more than one dimension. 2. Auto Arrange Dimensions The Auto Arrange Dimensions tool positions dimensions quickly and easily. 3. Dual Unit Support You can display dual units in hole tables. For example, you can display the size of a hole in millimeters and inches. 4. Weld Support in Drawings In drawings, you can insert bi-directional weld symbols that are attached to weld paths. You can insert weld symbols, caterpillars, and end treatments for weld beads in specific views. Enterprise PDM 1. Enterprise PDM Menus New menus for the SolidWorks Enterprise PDM client make the commands that you use most frequently easier to find. Model Display 1. DisplayManager The SolidWorks DisplayManager is the central location for managing appearances, decals, scenes, cameras, lights, and Walk Through. Use the DisplayManager to view, edit, and delete display items applied to the current model. 2. PhotoView 360 PhotoView 360 is now the standard photorealistic rendering solution for SolidWorks. The underlying technology has been updated to enhance the user experience and the final results. Parts and Features 1. Surface Extrudes From a 2D or 3D Face You can create extruded surfaces from models that include 2D or 3D faces and knit the extruded surfaces to surrounding features. Simulation 1. New 2D Simplification Study You can simplify certain 3D models by simulating them in 2D. 2D simplification is available for static, nonlinear, pressure vessel design, and thermal studies. You can save analysis time by using the 2D simplification option for applicable models. 2D models require fewer mesh elements and simpler contact conditions compared to their 3D counterparts.
